 Bio-Identical Hormones for

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is now available to
women in Bio-identical compounds usually made from soy or yams.
Bio-identical hormones are compounded in certain pharmacies
specifically to have the same molecular structure as the hormones
made by your own body. Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)
differs from conventional hormone replacement therapy, which uses
animal (pregnant horse urine in some) or synthetic hormones by using
whole natural structures that are identical to those produced in the
human body.
Dr. Lewis takes a very scientific and individualized approach
to Hormone Replacement Therapy. He begins with laboratory tests of
hormone levels (a “hormone panel.”) If BHRT is indicated, he
prescribes a precise combination of bio-identical estrogens,
progesterone and testosterone.
Dr. Lewis also tests your DHEA, (dehydroepiandrosterone)
levels and if necessary prescribes DHEA . DHEA is an endogenous
hormone secreted by the adrenal gland. DHEA serves as precursor to
male and female sex hormones. DHEA in the body begins to decline
after age 30.
Each patient is carefully monitored through regular follow-up
hormone panels to ensure patients get symptom relief. A few of the
first physical changes a BHRT patient may notice (especially if
switching from traditional HRT,) is a reduction in bloating , mood
elevation, skin texture improvement and increased libido.
